This past Friday…black friday…we hosted the very first Makapala Craft Fair here at the Makapala Retreat Center. We wanted to do it for a few reasons. One, Tiana has been selling her Waking Willow products at other various craft fairs and lately, there has been a thought in her head saying, “What if we had a craft fair here at Makapala?”
Two, we have a lot of projects that need funding here at Makapala and this is craft fair seemed like an “easy” project that we could do to help raise funds (for facility maintenance, youth programs, Ka Huaka’i, etc.)
Three, this event provided us another good way to connect w/ more people in the community and maybe introduce them to “Makapala”.
Looking back, we always see things we could have done better…but considering it was the very first craft fair we had hosted, I think we did pretty well.
Big Mahalo’s to all the vendors who came out, to all the volunteers who helped decorate and stayed to clean up after, and to the people who came out to support our artists and crafters! Looking forward to the next one and hope to see you there!
Here are a few photos from the event. Feel free to like, share, or comment. (BTW, if you look at this photo album, you’ll see a table w/ beaded jewelry and paracord keychains and bracelets. Our girls made a lot of them and were selling them as a fundraiser! Super proud of them.) #MakapalaCraftFair #MakapalaMarketplace
Here are a some of the great artist and vendors we have at the craft fair today. We'll be here from 2pm to 7pm. Hope to…
