Music has the ability to make all kinds of connections. It’s kind of amazing, to me. Here’s one for which I have become super grateful.
I met Kayden last summer (2016) at Alaska Ablaze. He came up with the Kohala group from Kalahikiola. Our team (from Kaka’ako Christian Fellowship) met up with them at Delta Christian Center in Delta Jct., Alaska. Before heading out to Mentasta to do camp, a lot of things need to be prepared. Something that I’m usually responsible for is the sound and music. That year, while we were getting ready, someone mentioned that Kayden could sing and help out with worship. Little did I know that over the next few days, God would use Alaska Ablaze and the worship times there to start building something that would impact the community here in Kohala.
At the start of 2017, Kayden asked me to be his mentor for his senior project: A Youth Worship Concert. He shared with me his vision and I asked some questions and made some suggestions. I was surprised (in a good way) to see how much initiative Kayden took to make this concert happen. In the process we had to change the dates a few times and change the venue as well, but it was an honor for me to be a part of this and to have been able to help a talented young man see his vision come to life.
Here are a few pictures from the night. Hopefully…prayerfully it is just the start of something great…that only God can imagine.
To Him be all glory,
Jared
(Great job, Kayden!)
